WHY GESCHÄFT
A brand with its own factory. Heavy fabrics, small runs, everything made in our Poznań studio.
Geschäft started because we wanted to make clothes we know everything about — what they are cut from, who sewed them and why they sit the way they do. We don’t outsource production and we don’t buy blanks. We design, cut, sew, dye and finish in one place.
We have our own factory
The Poznań studio isn’t a marketing line, it’s the address where every piece we make is built. Pattern, cutting, sewing, dyeing, washing, finishing — all under one roof and under our control. When something in a cut doesn’t work, we fix it the next day, not the next season.
Heavy fabrics, not claims
Hoodies at 470gsm. Tees at 280 and 300gsm. Corduroy, flannel, Italian suiting. We list the weight on every product, because it’s the one number in clothing that actually means something — and the only one you can compare across brands.
We dye and wash after construction
Most brands buy finished fabric and sew. We dye some pieces only once they’re sewn, then wash them. The knit compacts, softens and stops shrinking — it sits right from day one and holds its size. On some pieces the dye takes unevenly and no two come out the same. That’s the point.
Patterns we draw ourselves
Every fit we make is our own and comes back refined in the next collection. We have our classic tee cut and introduce new ones alongside it when there’s a reason. Details — ribbing, seams, metal hardware — are chosen for the specific piece, not picked from a catalogue.
Alterations and repairs in house
Too short, too long, a seam gone? We have our own machinists, so we handle most alterations ourselves. Write to us before you order or after. It isn’t an add-on service — it’s what having a workshop makes possible.
Small runs
We sew in runs of a few dozen pieces. When something sells out, we decide whether it comes back — and the Club hears about restocks first. We don’t produce for stock and we don’t sit on warehouses.
Over a decade behind it
Before Geschäft, we spent more than ten years designing and producing collections for artists, brands and cultural figures. That’s where the equipment, the know-how and the people who make our own brand today come from.
